The App Health metric is the percentage of sessions that do not contain a crash or error log. It’s a great way to monitor the overall stability of your application. You can track this metric across features and releases for quick visibility into regressions or improvements.
Where to Monitor App Health Out of the Box
The App Health metric is available in multiple places in the Embrace dashboard. The first place is the Version Comparison template dashboard, which you can access from the Dashboards page.
The Version Comparison template highlights several helpful performance and stability metrics across your latest releases. The following image highlights the default configuration.
The App Health metric is also available on the Health and Trends template dashboard. This template contains real-time visualizations of metrics, which are perfect for displaying on a TV. You can also configure the time window to increase granularity whenever you’re overseeing a live event or a new release.
How to Configure Dashboards With App Health
You can also create your own widget dashboard for the App Health metric. That way, you can set the time window, the app versions, and add any grouping or filtering to hone in on the datasets you care about. The below image shows an example where we’re filtering down to the one OS version we’re interested in.
Lastly, you can create a comparison dashboard and include App Health alongside other helpful graphs. In the following example, we’re comparing App Health across the recent versions of our application, and we’re adding a graph of session counts to provide context about their relative usage.
